On September 29, 1942, Liu Manqing passed away from illness in the suburbs of Chongqing.

In May 1936, the Living Buddha Norlha passed away in Ganzi. Liu Manqing was appointed as representative of the National Government to offer condolences. Owing to her illness, the National Government sent someone else to perform this office.

When her grandmother passed away in 1935, Liu Manqing took great pains to return to Kangding in an exemplary display of filial duty.
