In April 1929, Liu Manqing was appointed secretary of the custody unit of the secretariat of the preparatory group for the Grand Funeral of Sun Yat-sen. On May 28, Sun Yat-sen’s remains were transferred by special train to Nanjing from the Biyun Temple in Beijing. The National Government held the Grand Funeral, after which, on June 1, the remains were transferred to the tomb chamber of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum.
